In this paper, researches on artificial reef design were previewed in terms of hydrodynamics, biology and materials science. The interaction of hydrodynamics and design of artificial reef was discussed as well. Researches onmaterial science, hydrodynamics force, biological factorsand reef deployment were summarized, in order to provide an excellent artificial reef model for construction of artificial reefs (ARs) in South China Sea area.
