Distribution characteristics of suspended substance in the Lingdingyang water of the Pearl River Estuary

  • Suspended substance of the Pearl River Estuary was investigated in May (spring) and August (summer) 2003. The results revealed that the content of suspended substance in the Pearl River Estuary water recently ranged from 0.5 to 27.6 mgL-1, with the average of 5.73 mgL-1. The average content in summer is higher than that in spring with 6.60 mgL-1 and 4.86 mgL-1, respectively. The content distribution of suspended substance is characteristic of decreasing from northwest to southeast, and of being higher inshore than that of offshore. The content of suspended substance negatively correlated with transparency, salinity, pH and DO, and positively with COD,and is higher than that of the Dapengao in the Daya Bay.
