Peninsula Blue Economic Zone strategy and industrialized aquaculture development

  • Development Plan for the Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone was approved by state council as the first regional development strategy on the theme of marine economy in China in January 2011. Before October 2010, Shandong, Guangdong and Zhejiang provinces were approved as national marine economic development pilot areas, which announced that marine economy in China had entered a brand new period of development. As an important part of marine economy, mariculture will takescience and technology innovation as motive force, use marine-land industry linkage mechanism and introduce high technology to promote the upgrading and sustainable development of the blue industry. Taking flatfish culture industry as example, the paper proposes a conceptionwith development chance by Peninsula Blue Economic Zone, elimination of restricted culture space as a limiting factor, promotion of high-end culture technology system and industrialization development. Moreover, it preliminarily discusses the development concept, strategic objective, implementation way and development prospect of industrialized aquaculture.
