HPLC-MS/MS determination of zeranols residues in aquatic products

  • We developed a method for determining zeranols residues such as α-zearalanol, β-zearalanol, α-zearalenol, β-zearalenol, zearalanone and zearalenone by high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS).The samples were extracted with acetonitrile, degreased with hexane and purified with amino solid-phase extraction column. In addition, with electrospray ionization in negative mode, we monitored the samples with selected reaction monitoring (SRM) and quantified them with external standard method. For the 6 zeranols, it shows good linear regression coeffcient in the standard curve (all >0.99); the linear range is 0~25 μg·kg-1; the limit of detection is 1.0 μg·kg-1; the average recovery is 75.9%~103.8%, and the relative standard deviation is 3.90 %~13.5 %. The method, which is simple, sensitive and reliable, can be used to identify and quantify zeranols residues in aquatic products.
