Influence of light and temperature on degradation of N-nitrosodimethylamine and N-nitrosodiethylamine

  • Influence of light and temperature on degradation of N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) and N-nitrosodiethylamine (NDEA) was studied. The result showed that NDMA and NDEA degraded rapidly under the light. The concentration of NDMA and NDEA decreased from 60.88 and 60.06 ngmL-1 to 10.88 (82.13%) and 7.57 (87.39%) ngmL-1, respectively, when exposing to sun light for 4 h. The analysis of variance showed that the light had a significant influence on degradation of NDMA and NDEA (P0.05). The degradation of NDMA and NDEA was not significant from 4 to 50℃, but significant when the temperature was higher than 50℃ (P0.05).
